Digg revolt of 2007 Tuesday, May 01, 2007 |

A couple of users on Digg.com post the code needed to decrypt HD-DVDs in order to rip them to hard drives and (presumably) share movies over the internet. Digg moderators take the comment down and suspend the account of the initial author. The Digg community goes apeshit and begins to Digg each and every HDkey-related story and bury all others. As of right now, all the top 70 or so stories on the site involve the key.

An interesting study on the fragile relationship between user-written sites and their contributors.
